Meet Matt Thrailkill, Owner of RHR Builders

Asheville has always been home to me. My parents still live here, and now I’m raising my own family here with my two daughters, and our golden retriever, Fletcher — who occasionally makes appearances in our project videos.

My journey in construction started in high school working for a local tile company. From there, I gained hands-on experience across multiple trades including flooring, tile, framing, electrical, roofing, and structural work. Over time, I realized my strength was not just in one trade, but in understanding the entire project — from design and structure to scheduling, budgeting, and execution.

That experience eventually led me to become a licensed general contractor in both North Carolina and South Carolina. For over 11 years, I’ve worked both in the field and managing projects from start to finish, giving me a full understanding of what it takes to deliver quality work the right way.

Today, RHR Builders specializes in custom homes, additions, remodels, structural repairs, framing, foundation work, roofing, siding, commercial construction, medical offices, and complex projects that require real problem-solving. We take pride in tackling challenging jobs and delivering solutions others can’t.

For me, construction is about more than building structures — it’s about creating spaces families enjoy, businesses grow in, and memories are made in for years to come.

Outside of work, I enjoy technology, drones, cameras, offshore fishing, and spending time with my family at the beach.
